Some women astronauts prefer to wear makeup in space and others prefer not to bother with it. This is a travel kit for those who wish to take cosmetic products on their flight. Since everything must be secured in space or else it goes floating around, the kit has elastic bands and pouches to hold lipstick, eyeliner, mascara, foundation, and other items. It folds like a wallet with Velcro closure strips. NASA gave this spare makeup kit and a set of beauty products to the Museum as a small indicator of changes when women enter a formerly male workplace.
