This pilot's knee board was used by Scott Crossfield during the twelfth flight of the North American X-15 no. 2 on December 6, 1960. This was the last flight of an X-15 by Crossfield and during this flight he achieved a speed of Mach 2.85 and an altitude of 53,374 feet. The purpose of this flight was to demonstrate that is was possible to restart the X-15's XLR99 engine in flight.
