This is an unflown example of the computers that were used to guide the Saturn 1B and V launch vehicles into Earth orbit or to the Moon. This computer was originally installed on the Instrument Unit 205, for the Earth-orbit Apolllo 7 mission, flown in October 1968. But it was removed and another computer was substituted. The LVDCs were built by the IBM Corporation, for NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center.

The U.S. Space and Rocket Center donated this artifact to the Smithsonian in 2008.
