This 5mm lens was used by Apollo 11 astronauts with the 16mm Data Acquisition Camera (DAC) manufactured by J. A. Maurer Company. DACs were used in both the command and lunar modules during technical maneuvers of the spacecraft such as docking and undocking with the lunar module. This lens was used to document parts of the Apollo 11 mission, and was likely used in the command module. The short focal length of this lens allowed for a wider angle shot to be recorded on the DAC's 16mm film.
This lens was transferred to the Museum from NASA in 1979.
This object is on display in Human Spaceflight at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA.
