The Type LPU-2/P life preserver was developed in the early 1960s. The floatation bladders were inflated with CO2 activated by the wearer from a pull tab lanyard. There is also an extended rubber hose to manually inflate the vest.
This object is not on display at the National Air and Space Museum. It is either on loan or in storage.
