The crew of Apollo 8 carried these maps of the lunar surface on their December 1968 mission to orbit the Moon. The maps were prepared specifically for the mission and show various lunar landmarks, along with charts indicating coordinates.

This booklet was retained following the mission by the Manned Space Flight Center for public display. Ownership was transferred to the Smithsonian in 1977.
