Type ART-Prints, Original Medium Print, Etching on Paper, Colored Physical Description Colored etching of the landing of the Balloon flown by J.A.C. Charles and M.N. Robert on December 1, 1783. The pair remained aloft for two hours and traveled from the gardens of the Tuilleries to Nesle-la-Vallee near Hedouville. The Dukes of Chartres and Fitz James had chased the balloon from Paris, and are shown signing a "Proces Verbal" confirming the success of the flight. Title and caption in French below the image. 'T.
