These are two strap cutters, one interconnect manifold, and 14 cartridges that were removed from the left and right hatches of the Gemini IX capsule after astronauts Thomas P. Stafford and Eugene Cernan flew the three-day Gemini IX mission in June 1966. Among other things, the planned docking with the Agena target vehicle in space did not take place because the Agena's protective shroud was still attached. Cernan performed a space walk, but problems prevented him from using for the first time an Astronaut Maneuvering Unit. It is not known who made these objects. NASA transferred them to NASM in 1970.
