This is a model, possibly for wind tunnel tests, of Kingfisher A, a standoff weapon for release from a high altitude aircraft to attack a surface ship from beyond the range of the target’s air defenses. Range was nominally 20 miles; total weight about 3,000 pounds, including the payload, a Hark 21 acoustic homing torpedo.
C.L. Zakhartchenko donated this model to the Museum in 1970.
This object is not on display at the National Air and Space Museum. It is either on loan or in storage.
