This is a 1:32 scale model of the the Atlas B intercontinental ballistic missile. The Atlas B (also designated XSM-65B) was the second version of the missile and was used exclusively as a test missile in the program. On 18 December 1958 an Atlas B also launched a communications satellite under Project SCORE. Atlas Ds, Es, and Fs were America's first operational intercontinental ballistic missiles and were deployed by the Strategic Air Command from 1960-1965. General Dynamics, the missile's manufacturer, built this model and donated it to NASM in 1962.
