This is a plastic desktop model of the Q-5 target drone. Lockheed built these vehicles in the 1950s for the Air Force to use as a target for surface-to-air and air-to-air missiles. Launched from the ground, the vehicle's ramjet took over after the booster burned out.
Lockheed made the model and donated it to the Museum in 1958.
This object is not on display at the National Air and Space Museum. It is either on loan or in storage.
