This is a non-flying, staatic display model rocket of the Soviet Union's Sputnik 1 launch vehicle, made by Model Products in the late 1950s or early 1960s. There is a representation of the Sputnik 1 satellite within the transparent nosecone. The nozzle interiors are all painted red.

G. Harry Stine donated this model to the Smithsonian in 1973.

This object is not on display at the National Air and Space Museum. It is either on loan or in storage.
