This is a 1:48 scale model of the Apollo Lunar Module, including the lander. Scale models such as these were used to inform and educate members of the public, the press corps and others during the days of the Apollo missions.
Transferred to the National Air and Space Museum from NASA in 1976.

This object is on display in James S. McDonnell Space Hangar at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA.
