Uncolored etching of Mr. Hampton's safety parachute in various stages of use, from the ascent of the balloon "Albion," to the descent of the parachute. Mr. Hampton made his first descent in the parachute on October 3, 1838 in Montpellier Gardens, Cheltenham, and his second on June 13, 1839 at the Baron de Berenger's Cremorne House in Chelsea. Drawn and engraved by N. Whittock.
