This mission patch was flown on the Space Shuttle Columbia on the STS-93 mission in July 1999. It depicts the Chandra X-ray Observatory and a spiral galaxy, the Space Shuttle, the U.S. and French flags, and the names of the five STS-93 astronauts. The main purpose of this mission was to deliver the Chandra X-ray Observatory into orbit. The Museum received this patch with one of Commander Eileen Collins' crew shirts in late 1999.
