This patch is part of a duplicate repair kit from the backup Skylab orbital workshop displayed in the Museum. Skylab was launched into low Earth orbit in May 1973 and occupied until February 1974 by three-man crews on three different missions. Several onboard kits contained a variety of tools and supplies for basic repairs and maintenance tasks that the astronauts might need to do while in space. The repair kit contained various patches, tapes, and sealants for leaks, punctures, cracks, or other interior damage.
NASA transferred it to the Smithsonian in 1976.
