This "We Made History" commemorative patch was designed to celebreate the thousands of people who worked on the Space Shuttle Program over the course of its thirty years. Mission patches were important symbols of and souvenirs of the space program. As a result, creating a patch with the image of an orbiter surrounded by the names of all of the vehicles, overlaid on a American flag served as a way of workers to mark their participation.

Dennis Jenkins, who worked on the Shuttle Program and wrote some of the definitive operational histories of the Shuttle, gave this patch to the Museum in 2012.
