For a Shuttle mission each crew member has a personal hygiene kit stocked with selected toiletries and grooming equipment, such as toothpaste, toothbrush, dental floss, razors and shaving cream, styptic pencils, hand lotion, nail clippers and file, soap, deodorant, comb, brush, etc. The items are held in place inside the case by loops, pouches, and velcro strips. Removable name tags identify each kit during a mission, but afterward the kit cases are emptied, cleaned, and returned to the equipment inventory for use on another mission. This empty personal hygiene kit was used by John Glenn or another crew member on the STS-95 mission in 1998. NASA then transferred it to the Museum.
