This lapel pin is a souvenir of STS-106, a flight of the Space Shuttle orbiter Atlantis, which docked with the International Space Station. The logo is the mission patch, designed by the astronauts aboard the flight. It depicts both the orbiter and the ISS as well as the flags of the United States and Russia.

Along with mission patches, lapel pins became common pieces of memorabilia for shuttle missions. People could purchase them at space-related sites and the astronauts wore them and distributed them during their post-flight goodwill tours.

Valerie Neal donated the button to the Museum in 2012.
