The “Great American Eclipse” took place on August 21, 2017. The eclipse area of totality went through the states of Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The longest ground duration of totality was 2 minutes and 41 seconds in Giant City State Park, just south of Carbondale, Illinois. This poster created by Dr. Tyler Nordgren in the WPA “See America” style of the 1930s celebrates the event by depicting two people standing in a field with a barn in the distance and the eclipse above the barn.
