This spacesuit was made for and worn by Neil Armstrong on the Gemini 8 mission in March, 1966. The suit consisted of five major assemblies, the main torso, helmet, boots gloves and neck seal. Underneath the suit, he wore a constant wear garment and life vest assembly. It permitted freedom of movement, and was equipped with communication and bio-medical transmission equipment.
Most documentation indicates that the suit worn by Neil Armstrong on this flight was in the G3-C configuration. However, documentation from NASA - Johnson Space Center indicates that suit serial numbers worn during flight show that it was a G4-C that was worn by Neil Armstrong during the Gemini 8 flight.
