This is a sample cast (also called a grain) of a simulated solid propellant used in an automobile airbag inflator. The Atlantic Research Corporation, an established maker of small-scale solid propellant rocket motors for civilian and defense applications, entered this niche automotive market to spinoff some of its core propulsion technologies.
