The Red Service Ribbon of the CAP keeps track of its recipient’s service record. It is awarded after two years of service as either a cadet or senior member. After 3 additional years, a bronze clasp is added, and at five year intervals after that. At 20 years, the longevity device is added, the bronze clasps are removed, and the longevity device is updated every five years. It was redesigned in 1982.
