This is a mockup of the F-1 liquid fuel rocket engine. The F-1 engine, producing 1.5 million pounds of thrust, was the power plant for the first stage of the giant Saturn V launch vehicle. The Saturn V launch vehicles propelled Apollo program astronauts on their historic journies to the Moon between 1969 and 1972. The first stage of the Saturn V, or S-IC, was fitted with five F-1s for a total lift-off thrust of 7.5 million pounds.
The F-1 used RP-1, a type of kerosene, and liquid oxygen as the propellants. The F-1's 2,500 pound turbopump pumped in the propellants at 42,500 gallons per minute and was cooled regeneratively.
This F-1 mockup was a gift from the Rocketdyne Division of Rockwell International in 1975.
