This is an unassembled "Space Explorer" flying model plane in its retail package. Built by American Telasco Limited, it has balsa sheets from which to make the fuselage and wings and a plastic canopy and pilot. The kit does not contain any motors with which to power the model.

G. Harry Stine, a pioneer in the field of model rockets, donated this artifact to NASM in 1973.
