This is an unassembled Titan IIIC flying rocket model built by Model Products. It is a 1:100 scale model of the U.S. Air Force rocket of the same name, which was used over 30 times from 1965 to 1982 to launch a variety of military satellites. The model has a pasteboard body, plastic nose and fins, and a plastic parachute. A solid propellant rocket motor propels the model, and then at the end of the vertical flight it forces the release of the parachute. The model is then retrieved and can be used again. Not included in this kit are the motor, the launch controller that is used to ignite the motor, and the launch pad from which the model is launched.
G. Harry Stine, an American pioneer in the field of flying rockets and missiles, donated this model.
This object is not on display at the National Air and Space Museum. It is either on loan or in storage.
