Sept. 15, 1784. Mr. Lunardi ascended from the Artillery Grounds, (Moorfields) and he descended in a field near Ware, Hertfordshire, a girl came to his assistance and helped him to disengage the balloon from a tree where it had got entangled.

Watercolor painting of Lunardi's landing after he ascended from the Artillery Grounds on September 15, 1784. He descended in a field near Ware, Hertfordshire, and his balloon became entangled in a tree. A little girl came to assistance, and the image shows Lunardi and the girl disentangling his balloon from a tree as more people run from the city in the background. Part of a set of 17 watercolors on early ballooning.
