This is a stand for a model of unknown scale of the Air Intercept Missile 54A (AIM-54A), the earliest version of several Phoenix air-to-air missiles used exclusively on the U.S. Navy's F-14 Tomcat. It has a solid-fuel motor, a maximum speed of Mach 3.8, a range of over 115 miles, a conventional warhead, and is radar guided. First deployed in 1974, there are a limited number of AIM-54As still in service.
The stand's manufacturer is unknown. John and Cynthia Heyde donated the model and stand to the museum.
This object is not on display at the National Air and Space Museum. It is either on loan or in storage.
