This flying suit was loaned to and worn by Edward, Prince of Wales, on a flight with Brigadier General William L. 'Billy' Mitchell around the time of the World War I armistice in 1918. The Prince, who was with Allied troops in Belgium, visited the American Expeditionary Force near Coblenz, Germany and took a flight over the Rhine.
This object is not on display at the National Air and Space Museum. It is either on loan or in storage.
