This support plate fit between the cycle ergometer and the middeck floor of the space shuttle crew cabin. It spread the mass of the device over a larger floor area and strengthened the attachment points against vibrations when the cycle was in use. NASA transferred all the cycle ergometer equipment to the Museum after the Space Shuttle program ended in 2012.
