The Apollo toolset provides multipurpose tools and/or attachments for mechanical actuations and valve adjustments. This component is labeled: Tether. The tether is a strap 14 inches long with a snap hook at one end and a loop at the other. The hooks can be snapped into the tool tether ring to secure it to the crewman when moving about the CM.
This set was used during the Apollo 11 mission and NASA transferred it to the Smithsonian in 1970.
