This urine transfer assembly was intended to be part of the waste containment system of the Apollo spacecraft but was never used on a mission. Astronauts urinated through a rubberized roll-on cuff attached to the cylindrical metal intake valve. The bag was emptied of urine by connecting a hose from the spacecraft to the opposite end of the metal valve from the roll-on cuff. The system collected urine in a tank, which was routinely vented into space.

NASA transferred this urine transfer assembly to the Smithsonian in 1976.
