Heintz & Kaufman Inc. Physical Description
Rectangular box shaped radio with dials, switches and gauge. Donated with the description that it was used over the pole on Byrd's Nov. 1929 flight. The inscription carved into the case appears to indicate that this was actually a second unit brought by the expedition that was in the Fokker trimotor flown by Balchen, June and Gould. A blizzard destroyed that aircraft near the Rockefeller range. Equipment from this wreck was recovered in December 1934 and returned with the expedition.
