This trophy was awarded to General James (Jimmy) Doolittle for his aeronautical engineering and piloting accomplishments. General Doolittle earned his Doctor of Science Degree in aeronautical engineering from MIT in 1925. The St. Louis Chamber of Commerce presented this trophy to Doolittle in 1932 for setting a world landplane speed record.
