This small case was for use with the close-up lunar surface stereo camera used on the Moon during the Apollo 11 mission. The bag was made to contain and protect a film cassette during storage on the spacecraft prior and after use. Keeping the cassette inside the bag allowed few particles of Moon dust to escape and possibly contaminate the vehicle.
As the camera itselfwas bulky, it remained on the lunar surface and only accessory parts like this beta cloth bag returned to Earth.
NASA transferred this camera film cassette bag to the Smithsonian in 1970.
