Your support is what makes the National Air and Space Museum exceptional. Find out about the many ways you can help:

Make a gift to the National Air and Space Museum in honor or memory of someone special. Please select the checkbox indicating “Yes, this is an honor or memorial gift.” Donations can also be mailed to National Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian Institution, PO Box 98091, Washington, DC 20090. Please indicate the name of the individual being memorialized in the memo line of the check. We are pleased to provide an update on total memorial gifts upon request.

Make A Memorial Gift

A gift of securities owned more than one year can often be the most attractive and financially beneficial way to support the Museum. A charitable deduction may be taken for a portion of the donor's adjusted gross income, using the fair market value of the stock on the gift date. Donors generally do not incur any capital gains tax when they donate appreciated securities. In addition to stock, you may donate bonds and mutual fund shares to the Museum. If you have questions about a donation, please email NASMmembership@si.edu.

If you are planning a donation of securities, stock, bonds or mutual fund shares, please notify us, prior to making the gift.

Supporting the National Air and Space Museum is a smart investment and helps the Museum amaze, educate, and attract more than seven million visitors per year. We offer a variety of opportunities for strategic partnerships with corporations.

Corporate and foundation support has enabled a variety of exhibitions, ongoing educational programs and research activities since the Museum opened in 1976. If you are interested in exploring these opportunities please contact Anne McAllister, Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations, at 202-633-2611 or via e-mail McAllisterA@si.edu.

An endowment to the National Air and Space Museum is a fund that you establish to provide support to the Museum in perpetuity. A percentage of the earnings from the fund is distributed to the Museum annually, allowing us to pursue ongoing educational programs while the fund keeps growing. It may be created with cash gifts, pledges, and/or appreciated stock or property. Find out more about creating or contributing to an endowment.

There are many ways to make a planned gift to the Museum, taking into account your investment goals and your charitable interests. Find out more about giving strategies that will allow you to leave a legacy to America while possibly enhancing your, and your family's, future financial well-being.

Tangible personal property, such as books, artwork, photographs, aircraft, uniforms, and the like, may be donated to the National Air and Space Museum during your lifetime or by bequest. Please note that while we appreciate the personal value placed on these items, we must give special consideration to such gifts before we can accept them to ensure they meet our specific collection goals and rationale. Learn more about donating a personal item.

Did you know your donation could make an even greater impact on the National Air and Space Museum? Many employers (or their parent companies) support their current and retired employees with programs that match charitable contributions. Matching gift programs allow individuals and companies to work together to support of our mission to commemorate, educate, and inspire.

To find out if your employer is a participant in the matching gifts program, contact us at 202-633-2368 or by emailing NASMmembership@si.edu.

The National Air and Space Museum welcomes your gifts from Donor Advised Funds and Individual Retirement Accounts. To help in assuring your gift aligns with IRS tax requirements, no membership benefits will be provided in connection with donations made through these giving vehicles.

Please visit the DAF Direct page and begin the process of recommending a gift to the Smithsonian. Please make sure your name and membership number are located on the check or supporting documentation.

Qualifying donors can make direct transfers to the National Air and Space Museum from an IRA without incurring income tax. Up-to-date information regarding IRA contributions is available on the IRS website and from your IRA provider. Please direct your IRA contribution to:

Smithsonian Institution
National Air and Space Museum
PO Box 37012 MRC 321
Washington, DC 20013
