This is a stand for a 1:72 scale model of the Falcon 9 rocket. Made by Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX), founded in 2002, the Falcon 9 first flew in 2010. SpaceX won a NASA contract to carry humans and cargo to the International Space Station. A Dragon capsule launched by a Falcon 9 successfully carried supplies to the space station for the first time in June 2012. The rocket has not carried any humans to the space station yet.

The manufacturer of the stand is unknown. Space X donated the stand and model to the museum in 2012.
