This is a package of Russian Rye bread prepared for Soviet cosmonauts. The bread is divided into small cubes and sealed inside a plastic envelope. A cosmonaut can break off small bit-sized pieces without shedding crumbs inside the spacecraft. This specimen is unflown.
This object is on display in Human Spaceflight at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA.
