Communicating with Humans in Space

Sending humans into space through the space shuttle program and now the International Space Station is an important part of NASA's research capabilities. In celebration of World Space Week, Bill Marinelli, Space Communications and Navigation development manager at NASA; Dr. Marshall Porterfield, NASA's Space Life and Physical Sciences director; and Dr. Steve Volz, NASA's Earth Science Director for Flight Programs, will be at the Museum to talk about NASA's human space exploration programs. They will discuss how NASA's Space Network supports communication for the International Space Station and many other space missions, including the future of human space exploration; the broad array of ongoing and future research on the International Space Station;  and the new RapidScat and iSERVI experiments on the ISS. Following the presentation, a live downlink of ISS research will be presented.
