Richard Fisher is a scientist emeritus, NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center, and former director of the heliophysics division of NASA’s Science Mission Directorate.
The Skylab space station included the Apollo Telescope Mount (ATM), a solar observatory that was more sophisticated and capable than telescopes that previously had been used. Three flight crews controlled the ATM’s experiments during Skylab’s mission. Find out how the results from the Skylab studies continue to influence the course of international scientific research and have led to the development of heliophysics and the applied science of space weather that had been used previously.
