Join the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum as we celebrate the innovation and ingenuity that has taken place in American culture for more than 150 years. We will celebrate the great feats of aviation and aerospace with design challenges, hands-on discovery carts, and a special guest appearance by 2017 Ingenuity Award winner Natalie Batalha from NASA’s Kepler mission. Batalha will speak during the day and interact with guests at the Museum. She will also join the Museum for a special evening program.
Visitors to our Ingenuity Festival activities can:
- Learn about exoplanets in a planetarium show, hands-on activities, and presentations from NASA's Natalie Batalha
- Watch a live taping of a STEM in 30 episode about patents.
- Hear about the X-57, NASA's all-electric experimental aircraft.
- See the Department of Energy's Hydrogen Fuel Cell Car
- Try their hand at design challenges and participate in hands-on ingenuity demos and discovery stations
- Observe the Sun with safe telescopes
