As the last mission approaches, Space History Curator Valerie Neal comments on the significance of the Space Shuttle era—the goals, the spacecraft, the missions, and the ups and downs of a generation in human spaceflight.

The Ask An Expert lecture series at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center is presented every 2nd and 4th Thursday at 12:30 PM. A Museum staff member talks to the public about the history, collection, or personalities related to a specific artifact or exhibition in the Museum.

The Space Shuttle Enterprise was the centerpiece of the James S. McDonnell Space Hangar of the National Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Va. from 2004 to 2012, when Space Shuttle Discovery took its place. Enterprise went to the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in New York City.
