Michael J. Durant is a retired Chief Warrant Officer who has flown combat missions for the U.S. Army's Special Operations Command. He will speak about his career as a helicopter master aviator assigned to the 160th SOAR (A), the Night Stalkers, flying combat missions is support of Operations PRIME CHANCE, JUST CHASE and DESERT STORM. In his book, In the Company of Heroes, Durant tells the story of GOTHIC SERPENT, in which his Blackhawk helicopter was shot down over Mogadishu, Somalia and he became a POW.
Mr. Durant will sign copies of his book, In the Company of Heroes, after the lecture. Copies of this book will be available for sale at this event by The National Air and Space Society. All net proceeds from the sale of this book support the National Air and Space Museum.

This lecture is the Annual VADM Donald D. Engen Lecture and our 8th annual Flight Jacket night - all attendees are encouraged to wear their flight jackets (old or new, leather or cloth, military or civilian) on this special occasion. This lecture is also our tribute to all who have served in the U.S. Armed Services.
This lecture will be held at the National Air and Space Museum's Lockheed Martin IMAX Theater. This event begins at 8 PM.
