The 1950s were a rich period for imagining future human space travel.  Join Hunter Hollins as he examines the original Werner von Braun space station model used on the Disney television show "Man in Space," which has been on loan to the National Air and Space Museum since the Museum opened in 1976.  This artifact illustrates not only the amazing creativity and collaboration that went into creating the dream of human spaceflight, but also the complexity of borrowing artifacts from outside organizations.

The Ask An Expert lecture series at the National Mall building is presented every Wednesday at noon. A Museum staff member talks to the public about the history, collection, or personalities related to a specific artifact or exhibition in the Museum.
