The Berlin Airlift - A Legacy of Friendship
Temporary exhibition featuring historic photos of the Berlin Airlift.
The Berlin Airlift was one of the defining events of the Cold War. American and British cargo planes delivered over 2.3 million tons of supplies to the citizens of Berlin during a Soviet blockade of the city from June 1948 to May 1949. The Udvar-Hazy Center hosted a traveling exhibit commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the Berlin Airlift and paying tribute to U.S.-German friendship.
The display features historic photos illustrating the Berlin Airlift, including the people and aircraft that made it all possible, and runs through July 23, 2009.
