This image of the Moon was taken on Mar 1, 2012 at 3:20 pm.

The Moon is slightly more than half full, and it is becoming more full every day, making it a waxing gibbous Moon.

Today at the Public Observatory we observed both the Moon and Venus.  By coincidence, both were in the same gibbous phase, though Venus is waning.  When Venus crosses directly between the Earth and Sun on June 5, 2012, there will be a rare transit of Venus.

Telescope: Televue 85mm with yellow #15 filter.
