Germany employed its own version of Aphrodite in the form of Mistel (piggyback) combinations in which an unmanned bomber like this Ju 88 would be packed with explosives and flown attached to a single seat fighter mother ship. Nearing the target, the fighter would separate and guide the drone to its target, though without benefit of a dedicated operator or television. Like the American combat drones, the Mistels were also only marginally successful. National Archives and Records Administration 342-FH-3A20006
