Log book belonging to Dale L. White (log book #1), used from 1933-1940. This two-page spread documents his 1939 "Goodwill Flight" (May 11 to May 16) from Chicago to Washington, DC. On May 11, 1939, White was refused storage for his airplane in Morgantown, WV, so he and his copilot flew on to Pittsburgh after dark with no lights to either fly or land by. White wanted to make the case for African American participation in flight training, both civilian and military.
