• Chinese Festival Kite

    One of the Chinese kites that were the first aeronautical objects to enter the Smithsonian collections.  This festival kite, made of silk on a bamboo frame and decorated with a bear and snake motif, was originally shown at the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia in 1876.
