    This image of the Sun's chromosphere was taken on April 6, 2011 at 1:20 PM using a  hydrogen-alpha telescope at the Public Observatory. 

    Many types of solar activity can be seen in this image: sunspots, filaments, plages, and prominences.

    The image was taken with a Lumenera SKYnyx 2-2 camera attached to a Lunt 100mm hydrogen-alpha telescope.
